Port Coquitlam Crane Operator Classes - For the operators and the supervisors, new and current, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content includes applicable federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The first component of training consists of comprehensive in-class instruction and exam. Following that is a hands-on customized session together with practical lessons and evaluation.
The content of the course applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting crane equipment. The instruction would particularly focus on all aspects of crane operation that can be performed at the trainee's workplace. Upon completing the course, individuals training will learn how to operate particular overhead lifting devices, related parts and attachments efficiently and safely.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator can develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products could be prevented with correct practices. Training reduces the possibility of a workplace injury or incident occurring.
The course will encompass about eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants are graded on their knowledge of training material via an evaluation of their practical knowledge and written tests. The minimum acceptable score is 80%.
In the in-class session, participants would be taught applicable causes of damages and occurrences, legislation and guidelines, internal responsibility, hazard awareness, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, design principles and basic equipment, safe hosting/operating techniques, pre-shift equipment inspections, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, angles and hitches, pedestrian/operator safety, flipping/turning loads safely, hand signals for operators and slingers.
The practical training and evaluation portion of the course should be pre-scheduled. This customized part of the training will be held at the trainees' facility. The duration of this practical training part is an hour or two. The instructor will train two operators at a time about skills like planning the lift, proper rigging practices and safe operation.
After finishing both the practical training and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee would be tested via an exam. Each participant will be required to sign the safety rules. Trainees who are successful would be provided with individual wallet certificates. A framed wall certificate will be provided to the company.
